NSW: Dangerous driver jailed for five years
A man who drove a stolen car at high speed before colliding with a small truck, killing
a passenger, has been jailed for at least five years.
RONALD JAMES NICHOLAS, 23, has pleaded guilty to two dangerous driving charges and
one charge of dangerous driving occasioning death.
The accident happened at Ingleburn, in Sydney's south-west, on January 16 this year.
In sentencing NICHOLAS in the New South Wales District Court, Judge ROBERT KELEMAN
said the seriousness of the case was very high.
He said NICHOLAS, in trying to escape from police, drove at a grossly excessive speed
with a flagrant disregard for other road users.
NICHOLAS will be eligible for parole in January 2005.
