More supplies left the RAAF's Richmond base in Sydney aboard two Hercules this morningas part of Operation Baghdad Assist and are due in Iraq within days.
The first Hercules, which had on board an Australian military nurse and commando guards, became the first Australian aircraft to land at Baghdad International Airport since thewar began.
The nurse would report back with first-hand information of the humanitarian crisisin Iraqi hospitals, Brigadier Hannan said.
"Our understanding of the situation at the moment is that there are plenty of medicalprofessionals in Baghdad and in Iraq and the medical standards are excellent," BrigadierHannan told reporters.
"The problem they've got is that they just don't have the equipment - the stuff theyneed to do their job and that's the real focus at the moment."
