Onexpo looks to delay deadline for implementing new controls.

MEXICO CITY, Nov 15, 2004 (Cronica/Corporate Mexico by Internet Securities, Inc. via COMTEX) -- The Mexican National Council of Gasoline Businessmen (Onexpo) is looking to postpone the installation of volume controls in service stations, given that the deadline for installing these mechanisms is just two months away, but suppliers "still do not have the equipment nor trained personnel to install them", stated Armando Valladares, a spokesman for Onexpo.

The expert explained that there are not enough suppliers of these mechanisms, which will electronically supervise service station attendants. In this light, he stated that the council is currently holding talks with the Tax Administration Service (SAT) in order to study how this situation should be managed.

Valladares reiterated that businessmen are hoping to see authorities give them a reasonable amount of time to install the volume controls, which at present are to be implemented by Jan. 1, 2005.
