Censored.(Industry Trend or Event)(Brief Article)

Irony upon ironies. The Campaign Against Censorship of the Internet in Britain found itself in a difficult position to say the least this week. The CACIB had run a story about another site that had been closed down, allegedly as a result of the recent case won by Dr Laurence Godfrey against Demon Internet. After connecting the two incidents, the CACIB found itself the object of the good doctor's legal advisers and its site was taken down by the ISP hosting it, Instant Web. CACIB is headed up by one Malcolm Hutty, who is also a founder and employee of Instant Web. Needless to say the CACIB site is now hosted in the US, a little trickier to reach.

Gadfly is delighted that ISPs are being targetted in such a way: there always was too much freedom on the Web, the last refuge of scoundrels. Hold on, isn't that what they say about users of the libel laws?
